2008 Tours - Kelly Clarkson and Reba Kick It in the '08
December 5th 2007 11:05
So, in 2008, if you happen to live in the United States…it is definitely an exciting time to be a country music fan. Well, a Nashville fan at least.
Here is a list of some of the biggest tours that are going to take place in the next six months:
Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson
Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood
Emmylou Harris and Patty Griffin
Kenny Chesney and LeAnn Rimes
Allison Krauss and Robert Plant
There is also a rumor of a Dixie Chicks/Eagles tour. Then again, that just sounds too good to be true.
So, as I listen to Faith Hill (yes, I do shamefully enjoy her music ), I am going to highlight the tour that I am most excited for.
As an avid fan, I have witnessed a Keith Urban concert, Emmylou live, Patty Griffin (only last week), Kenny Chesney and Kelly Clarkson. Now, when I hit the States in the ’08, I will only be able to afford tickets to two or three of these shows, and to be honest, the one that I am practically drooling over is the Reba/Kelly tour. Why?
Reason #1: Reba is a living legend
Reason #2: Kelly Clarkson’s voice sends shivers down my spine
Reason #3: Most importantly, one word – DUET.
These two women have teamed together on many occasions including CMT Crossroads, a cameo by Clarkson on Reba’s sitcom, various awards shows and the incredibly successful duet version of the Clarkson pop hit “Because Of You”.
Now, I can say that you the meeting of these two vocalists is something to live in awe of. Whether it is the countrified version of a Clarkson pop hit such as the Grammy Award winning “Since U Been Gone” or a duet version of the Reba classic “Why Haven’t I Heard From You?” – you really can’t find a more analogous yet dissimilar pair to tour together. What do they have in common? Well, a manager named Narvel Blackstock. What else?
Reba tells, "Kelly and I have become great friends, and I am so thrilled that not only are we friends and buddies, but we get to sing together."
So not only am I anticipating the set list, but also the amount of “tweens” who have the opportunity to witness the Queen of Country in action, something they more than likely would never get to do if the former American Idol did not make the move towards a more country/blues direction...or at least become BFF with Ms McEntire.
Reba has had over 33 No.1 hits on the country charts, as well as 15 AMAs, 12 ACMAs and 7 CMAs. For over three decades, she has constantly been delivering a genre altering artistic charisma. In 2007, her album “Reba Duets” was released, featuring the duet “Because Of You” with Clarkson, helping to spawn Reba’s first ever No.1 album on the Billboard Pop Charts.
Clarkson, the first American Idol winner hit the music scene in 2003 with her debut album “Thankful” which was soon followed by the groundbreaking “Breakaway” which sold over 10 million copies worldwide, delivered five No.1 singles and earned her two Grammy Awards including Best Pop Vocal Album. In 2006, she was declared the most successful artist in Top 40 history, with at least one single on the Top 40 charts for 111 consecutive weeks.
Kelly and Reba will on tour together for the 2 Worlds 2 Voices tour through February.
