A Year In Review...

A year in review?
I spent most of yesterday going through my desk looking at ticket stubs, concert photographs and notes I took. For me, 2007 was a defining year in my musical education. It was the first time I saw Patty Griffin, the first time I witnessed a Keith Urban guitar solo live and the last time I that I would ever hear a new Porter Wagoner record.
So, as I sit at my desk, completely procrastinating and seeking every reason to avoid studying for exams, I can't help but reflect on the '07.
I caught Keith Urban in Melbourne for the firs time. I witnessed two Kelly Clarkson concerts within three days and consequently got to meet her (she was an absolute darling). I kicked back at a Dwight Yoakam gig and finally gained an appreciation for the "Bakersville Sound" and spent the better part of my Thursday nights at random acoustic shows by unsigned talent. I also jumped on the Patty Griffin bandwagon and now worship the ground that this meek singer/songwriter walks on. In fact, I am planning on attending two Griffin gigs in March this year.
My favorite moment of the year would definitely be the Tim McGraw performance of "If You're Reading This" at the ACM Awards. My most disappointing would be finding out that Taylor Swift's scheduled appearance at the CMC Rocks The Snowies Festival has been cancelled due to overwhelming demand in the States.
Personally, I conquered my second year of university and I am currently looking forward to my third and final year before finally graduating with a Bachelor Of Arts...or apparently, a Bachelor of Bullshit depending on who you talk to.
So, here's to an awesome 2008!
