American Idol, Kara DioGuardi and the factory.

It has been announced that singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi will join Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson on the judging panel for the 2009 season of American Idol.
So, for the fun of it, let's sort through some of her writing "gems":
Hillary Duff - Come Clean
Clay Aiken - The Way
Ashlee Simpson - Pieces Of Me and Boyfriend
Lindsay Lohan - Over
Pussycat Dolls - I Don't Need A Man
Paris Hilton - Screwed
Katharine McPhee - Love Story
Ali Lohan - All The Way Around
A pattern emerging? Well, first, note the large amount of Idol tracks penned. Secondly, her responsibility for forcing upon the world some arguably less than stellar factory pop that floods much of Top 40 radio.
I support changing up old formulas...but with the already slightly, um, "special" trio of judges, how is bringing in another foot soldier from the Sony BMG label going to boost ratings and contribute to a stronger show?
I haven't any answers or suggestions in regard to changing the format of Idol in order to make it a stronger product. Frankly, I am a major fan of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler who are all products of the Idol franchise. However, after six or seven years of a like minded formula, one has to wonder what is necessary to make a once revolutionary concept new again. Some may say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I am not suggesting that Idol is broken, I am just wondering how adding America's answer to Max Martin (Ms DioGuardi) is going to boost the quality or ratings of Idol.
