Ode To Brad Paisley...
February 2nd 2008 13:10
Just a short one. And yes, it will more than likely be lacking true substance.
Sorry, I've been a bad blogger. I've been down at the beach for a week and a half and I've neglect my blessed bubble o' country.
What am I listening to at the moment? The two records that have been getting the main spins in my car in recent days have been Brad Paisley's "5th Gear" and Kenny Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates".
The truth is, I never get sick of Brad Paisley. For me, I can only take so much of Kenny before I want to throw him out the window. Thus, Kenny in small doses is essential for me...though I can't question his talent as a vocalist, songwriter or performer.
Now, Brad Paisley, that is a different story.
Paisley, 35, on the guitar is a poet. As a vocalist, he continually amazes me, and as a performer, he commands the attention of the crowd. If you don't believe me, you can ask the 850,000 strong that have consistently filled arenas for his 2007/8 "Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour".
His records begin and conclude with guitar highs and throw in some neo-Jesus and figurative love ballads to continually deliver solid and well produced material. Note: he also occasionally likes to sing about fish.
Paisley is also one of the few country artists that continues to deliver video after video and never fails to disappoint.
He, along with the beautiful Allison Krauss take part not only in one of my favorite duets of all time, but one of my favorite lines of all time. How can you get past?...
"She put him out/Like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette" (thank you Bill Anderson and Jon Randall for writing that by the way).
Check him out...
